Acer Introduces A Modular PC With Building Blocks
Building a PC is no easy task, but with the Acer Revo Build, it’s as simple as stacking components on top of one another.
At the IFA tech trade show in Berlin, Acer unveiled the tiny mini PC with modular components.
It’s basically the little Revo mini PC that looks like a piggy bank on steroids.
Resembling Japanese bento boxes, the Revo Build is designed to be quickly customizable. There’s a main component “block,” which houses an Intel Celeron or Pentium processor, up to 8GB of RAM, three USB 3.0 ports, an SD card slot, HDMI port and DisplayPort.
It’s the other blocks that make the Revo Build newsworthy. Need more storage than the 500GB base mode Just stack a 1TB hard drive “block” on. Want a better graphics chip? Swap out the graphics block.
The Revo Build PC’s modular components actually resembles Project Christine, Razer’s concept PC tower.
The proprietary pieces prevented Christine from ever becoming a real product, though.
The Revo Build is also extremely portable and not just in size. It has a built-in speaker for sound output and a wireless power bank so it can be used without an outlet.
The modular PC base will be available n Europe, Africa and the Middle East starting at about 4.
